Extension Celebrates 100 years in Morrow County
Gallery Opening at the SAGE Center

BOARDMAN, OREGON, May 5, 2018 – Morrow County Extension is hosting a celebration and gallery opening at the SAGE Center celebrating 100 years of Extension in Morrow County.  Guest speakers include State of Oregon Representative Greg Smith and Morrow County Commissioner Don Russell.

The display will highlight current work by Extension in our area, as well as some highlights from the past. Current programs and research currently offered by Morrow County Extension include: 4H Youth Development, Juntos and Latino Outreach, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education Program (SNAP-Ed), Livestock and Rangeland Management, Cereal Crops Agriculture as well as being served by the Hermiston Agricultural Research and Extension Center that serves irrigated agriculture, and Columbia Basin Agricultural Research Center outside of Pendleton, Oregon that serves dryland producers in our county.

“You will be amazed by the breadth and depth of the educational and research efforts of Extension in Morrow County”, says Mary Corp, OSU Extension Regional Director. “Extension has a local history of adapting to the needs of local communities with a focus on healthy farms, families and food over the past 100 years. Please come and help us celebrate this rich heritage.”

All are invited to attend the celebration and gallery opening, there will be no admission charge during the event time of 11 am to 1 pm. Presentations and remarks at 11:30 am. Appetizers and refreshments will be served.
